Spring as a Season of Blooming

Every single year, on the first warm day in spring, I get this feeling like everything is going to be ok. Better than ok.

I walk outside and suddenly it feels like the entire world is waking back up again. People are sitting at cafés. Windows are open. There are flowers outside at little markets. Everything feels more beautiful.

If winter is spent quietly re-calibrating and embracing productivity, then spring is when we get to take a big, deep breath and slow it down a bit.

Which is funny, because most people seem to think the opposite. Winter is supposed to be the season of slowing down and resting while spring is when everyone aggressively tries to “get their life together” again. But honestly, I think spring is a much better time to relax. To stroll through the park and sit on a blanket in the sun, to have lunch on a terrace, to enjoy the new season.. this is the time to be less productive, not more productive.

Actually, this entire idea really motivates me during the winter. I want to tie up loose ends and complete some projects as winter closes, so that I can spend the spring a bit more at ease. All the little seeds I planted in December, January and February, begin to sprout in May.

Spring feels like the season for living again and for blooming.
